TiVo will let any video podcast provider publish MPEG-4 video content to its DVRs using the Internet's RSS content-syndication standard, and the company said it's already offering hundreds of podcast channels from sources including CBS, Fox and Comcast Networks' G4.
The feature is available starting Wednesday on TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL units with a broadband connection. Users can watch any video instantly, or set a Season Pass to have videos downloaded to their DVRs automatically as they are published.
In addition, TiVo users can access video not listed by entering the URL for a video podcast they want within the "Video On Demand" menu on their TiVo DVR.
The company provides more information on the service and how to publish content to TiVo DVRs at: www.tivo.com/rssvideo.
