Telemundo Taps Escobar As EVP Of Network News

Ramon Escobar, the former Telemundo entertainment executive, has been named to lead the Telemundo Network News.
As executive vice president, Escobar will oversee all of the Spanish-language broadcaster's network news operations and develop strategic plans for all of its news properties. Reporting to Telemundo president Don Browne, Escobar also will have oversight of the network's domestic and international news bureaus and develop on-air talent and communications.

Escobar joins Telemundo from Sucherman Consulting Group, where he served as vice president of consulting for the last two years, working with such clients ABC News, Discovery and Animal Planet. Before that, Escobar was Telemundo's senior executive vice president of entertainment. Earlier, he was a senior vice president at the Telemundo Station Group.

"I've had the good fortune over the past 16 years to work with Ramon and see first-hand his talent, passion, dedication to journalism and commitment to serving the U.S. Hispanic community," said Browne in a statement. "His extensive experience in journalism and his ability to understand the rapidly evolving, multi-media world of news and information position him perfectly to lead our news organization into the future."
