MTV: Music Television will debut weekday music-performance/dating series Score Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Thursday.
In each episode of Score -- airing Monday-Friday and hosted by singer and songwriter Ryan Cabrera -- two music hopefuls will battle it out to win a date with the girl or guy of their dreams by creating and performing one original song.
Cabrera and his band will work with two contestants on lyrics, song arrangement and stage presence. The winner will be selected each week sight unseen, chosen purely on the merits of the song, MTV said.
“We think Score is a perfect blend of two things our viewers hold dear -- music and dating,” MTV Series Entertainment executive vice president Lois Curren said in a prepared statement. “We're also excited about showcasing unsigned young talent as they battle it out to win a date strictly on the merit of their music.”
