Outside TV Adds New Series, Docs From Red Bull Media House

Outside Television, having grown its availability to about 30 million U.S. homes, said it expanded on a production agreement with Red Bull Media House to obtain 45 hours of original programming in the form of weekly series and primetime specials.

The network said Red Bull will supply returning seasons of two exclusive original series, add three new series and expand with Outside into documentary production surrounding the anniversary of Felix Baumgartner’s Red Bull Stratos leap from space to earth. The Austrian daredevil became the world’s first human to break the sound barrier with his own body with that descent.

The three new series are:

The Art of Flight TV Series, based on the popular adventure film of the same name, will anchor Outside Television’s Friday night slate at 8 p.m. beginning Nov. 8. The seven-part series features the trick jumps of Travis Rice and his pro crew.

Where the Trail Ends TV Series (pictured), also based a popular adventure feature, will air at 8:30 p.m. Friday nights, beginning Nov. 8. The six-episode series follows the world’s top freeride mountain bikers Darren Berrecloth, Cameron Zink, Kurtis Sorge, James Doerfling, and Andreu Lacondeguy and documents their individual and collective experiences as they search for unridden terrain around the globe, ultimately shaping the future of big mountain freeriding.

Xtreme Collxtion begins Saturday, Nov. 9. The weekly magazine program draws from action and extreme sports from around the planet and focuses on the personalities involved.

The returning series are:

Ultimate Rush 2 will be an 8:30 p.m. series starting on Saturday, Nov. 23. Host Stephen Schiff joins forces with extreme sports cinematographers to ask questions, including why do each of these world-leading athletes do what they do.

The series profiles a dozen men and women in their quest for the ultimate adventure, such as mountaineer and apnea diver Annelie Pompe attempting to become the first person ever to achieve the highest peak of Mount Everest and the deepest dive on Earth.

In the documentary realm, Mission to the Edge of Space: The Inside Story of Red Bull Stratos, will premiere on Outside Television in late January 2014. It includes new exclusive behind-the-scenes footage revealing such challenges as the heat-resistance problem with Baumgartner’s faceplate that nearly scrubbed the mission. Mission to the Edge of Space offers more detail and context to the more than 8 million originally captivated by the Oct. 14, 2012 event, as well as others who may have missed it.

The Felix Baumgartner Story, another documentary still to be scheduled, follows the record breaking B.A.S.E. jumper conquering his many other past challenges, such as the Jesus sculpture high above Rio de Janeiro's or the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

Felix Baumgartner: The Cave, another new documentary still to be scheduled, features Baumgartner’s successful B.A.S.E. jump into the perilous Mamet Cave in Croatia’s Velebit National Park.
