NCG’s Bevan Dies at 46
National Geographic Channel vice president of broadcast and syndicated series Megan Anne Bevan died Thursday morning at the age of 46 following an extended bout with cancer.
She first joined the staff of National Geographic in 1980 as a writer-researcher in educational media. Bevan moved to National Geographic Television in 1984 as a senior scriptwriter for National Geographic Explorer.
Bevan was an integral part of the programming team that developed the lineup for NGC’s launch.
She is survived by her mother, Louise Dabbs; husband Darryl J. Hatheway; two stepsons, Dylan and Nigel Hatheway; stepdaughter Colette Beers; sisters Brenda Bevan Remmes and Elizabeth Bevan; and brother John Bevan Jr.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Black River Presbyterian Church in Sumter, S.C.
