Lifetime Acquires Reality Show

Lifetime Television will becomeAlmost Family in the first quarter of 2006.

The network said Friday that it has picked up the reality show, during which couples from radically different backgrounds meet their significant others’ families for the first time without having their partners by their sides.

“We are thrilled to bring our viewers this real-life version of Meet the Fockers,” Lifetime senior vice president of reality programming Bill Brand said in a prepared statement.

“As the world is increasingly interconnected through global travel, information sharing and use of technology, more people are finding their perfect match outside their own backyards and backgrounds,” he added. “This entertaining and emotional series puts relationships to the test since the couples are opposite in many ways, such as culturally, geographically and socially. The show is also an opportunity for women to see how others navigate complex family dynamics and relationships.”
