Japanese Trivia Show Comes to Spike TV

Hey: Spring of Trivia will join Spike TV’s lineup with back-to-back episodes Thursday, Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Thursday.

Spike TV added that this marks the first time the No. 1-rated Japanese TV series will be simultaneously telecast in the United States.

Japanese actors Katsumi Takahashi and Norito Yashima host Hey: Spring of Trivia, during which the best trivia ideas are selected from the more than 20,000 suggestions the show receives per week and video demonstration segments are produced “with the accuracy of each segment rigorously verified,” Spike said.

The network added, “The trivia video segments are viewed by a panel of judges who award the trivia segments with ‘Hey’ points by slapping a ‘Hey’ button. The more interesting the trivia, the more ‘Heys’ it gets. The viewer who submitted the winning trivia is the winner and receives a 'Golden Brain' and a cash prize.”

"If you think your head is crammed full of useless knowledge now, just wait until you see Hey: Spring of Trivia," Spike TV president Albie Hecht said in a prepared statement.

Fujisankei Communications International Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Fuji Television Network, produces Hey: Spring of Trivia, as well as Iron Chef.
