ESPN Scores Male, 18-34 Demo Wins With Jets-Dolphins 'MNF' Matchup

ESPN tackled Monday night Nielsen honors in all key male and adult memos with its coverage of the New York Jets' 24-6 win over the Miami Dolphins.
The Oct. 17 Monday Night Football telecast averaged a 9.1 cable rating (7.8 national), 8.95 million households and 12.06 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. The MNF telecast scored the ninth-largest audience on cable television in calendar year 2011, relative to households.
As it has each week during the 2011 NFL season, ESPN ranked as the top network in all TV among key male demos. It also stood first among persons 18 to 34, and finished second with persons 18 to 49 and adults 25 to 54, according to officials at the worldwide leader.
The game, which saw the Jets even their record and keep the Dolphins winless, marked the first time MNF beat its corresponding telecast from the 2010 campaign: Tennessee's 30-3 blowout over Jacksonville on Oct. 18, 2010, averaged a 6.2 U.S. rating and 9.67 million viewers.
