CMT Rings Up Artists App

Viacom Music and Logo Group have targeted the iPhone for the launch of the CMT Artists App, a offering a slate of online content spanning performances, music videos, interviews and news on country music stars.

CMT envisions the app as a starting point for fans to discover new music and artists, including sound ID and lyrics search.

To mark the debut of the app, CMT is partnering with Danielle Bradbery, season four winner of The Voice, to feature an exclusive five song performance including hit single, “The Heart of Dixie,” as well as “Talk About Love,” “Never Like This,” “My Day,” and “Wild Boy.”

CMT said the app also offers exclusive content from artists and CMT, a streamlined social feed, and a retro archive, and an integrated song- and ticket-purchasing feature.

The CMT Artists App is an expanded mobile companion to the artists.cmt.com Web site, which is averaging 3 million unique visitors per month, according to the programmer. An Android version is in the works.

The launch on the iPhone follows the debut of the MTV Artists App.
