BET Goes to Court with ‘Judge Karen,’ ‘Judge Hatchett’

BET announced the syndicate acquisitions of Judge Karen and Judge Hatchett, a pair of daytime court television shows that will air back-to-back each weekday starting Monday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. ET.

Judge Karen, hosted by Judge Karen Mills-Francis (left) of Florida’s Miami-Dade County, offers “a no-nonsense approach to resolving real-life problems in the courtroom,” network officials said.

Unlike other shows in the genre, Judge Karen adopts traditional courtroom procedures and practices while adding twists such as the audience interactive segment at the end of each show called “Ask Judge Karen.”

Judge Glenda A. Hatchett presides over the Judge Hatchett show, providing viewers with a “broad variety of cases with conflicts ranging from family issues to juvenile court and even at times, unusual small claims cases.” The show features in-depth conflict resolutions, which often shed light on the usually secret, unpredictable positions that are crucial to the altercations.

Both series are Sony Pictures Television productions.
