A&E Examines Hacking Tragedy
A&E Network will investigate a tragic current murder case when it airs Deadly Deception: The Mark Hacking Story Monday at 8 p.m. (EST/PST).
The one-hour special examines the case of Salt Lake City woman Lori Hacking, who found out that her husband, Mark, had been leading a double life, only to vanish days later.
However, Mark’s elaborate web of lies began to fall apart and, six days after Lori’s disappearance, he confessed privately to two of his brothers, who notified authorities one week later.
In producing Deadly Deception, A&E interviewed: Mark Steinagel, high-school friend and Mark's neighbor; Paul Soares, Lori’s brother; Thelma Soares, Lori’s mother; Holly Thomas, Lori’s friend; Brandon Wood, a friend of Mark and Lori; Salt Lake City Det. Dwayne Baird; David Kaczynski, brother of “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, who turned him in, as did Mark's brothers; Rebecca Carroll, Lori’s friend; FBI profiler Candace DeLong; Brian and Jennifer Hamilton, friends of Mark and Lori; Mark Koelbel, lead Anchor, KUTV News Salt Lake City; Mark Moffat, defense attorney for Elizabeth Smart's kidnappers and expert in insanity defense; Desert Morning News reporter Pat Reavy; Greg Skordas, prosecuting attorney, who knows both Hacking case attorneys and is very familiar with the case; Dr. Katherine Yates, psychopathology expert; and Salt Lake County District Attorney David Yocom.
