ABS-CBN Global to Debut Music Net

ABS-CBN Global, the U.S.-based subsidiary of ABS-CBN Broadcasting, will launch music-lifestyle network MYX in December.

The Asian media company described MYX as “the first music-lifestyle television channel made by, and for, Asian Americans, which will focus on the fast-growing, bicultural, English-speaking Asian-American youth and young-adult market.”

ABS-CBN added that it is forming partnerships with major American, European and Asian music labels for content.

“MYX fills a giant void in television and addresses a cultural reality that Americans listen to more than just pop, hip-hop and rock music produced in the United States,” ABS-CBN managing director Raffy Lopez said in a prepared statement. “Ultimately, MYX will cultivate a new marketplace for music and entertainment, fashion and style, for trendsetting youth and young adults.”
