Fox News Continues Weekly Total Day Ratings Streak

Fox News, fresh off its August monthly primetime and total day ratings triumph, continued its winning ways on a total day basis last week, while ESPN tackled the primetime ratings crown.

Fox News was tops on a total day basis during the week of Sept. 2 to Sept. 8 for 35th consecutive week, topping ESPN, MSNBC, The Weather Channel, HGTV and Investigation Discovery, said Nielsen.

ESPN, on the strength of its football and US Open tennis tournament coverage, averaged 2.5 million viewers to top Fox News’ 2.2 million viewers to take weekly primetime ratings honors, according to Nielsen. MSNBC finished third with 1.4 million, followed by HGTV’s 1.2 million viewers and TLC And USA Network, tied for fifth with 1 million viewers.

Investigation Discovery (920,000), Hallmark Channel (910,000), CNN (869,000), and Discovery Channel (863,000) rounded out the top 10 most watched cable networks in primetime, said Nielsen.
