Disney Tops Weekly Cable Ratings
Disney Channel rode its original movie Descendants to a first place primetime ratings finish among cable networks last week, according to Nielsen.
The kids-targeted network averaged 2.2 million viewers during the week of July 27 to Aug. 2 to best TNT, which finished in second with 1.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
Fox News took the third slot with 1.6 million viewers, followed by a tie between USA Network and TBS, each with 1.5 million viewers.
HGTV and History (1.4 million viewers); Discovery (1.3 million); and Food Network, Adult Swim and FX (1 million) rounded out the top most watched networks for the week.
Disney was also the most watched cable network on a 24-hour basis last week, besting fellow kids/young adult-targeted networks Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Adult Swim.
TBS was the top network of choice for adult 18-49 viewers as well as female viewers 18-49 and 25-54 for the week, Nielsen said.
