YES On Pitch With Manchester City Encores

YES Network, as expected, has inked a multiyear pact with the Manchester City Football Club to encore the side’s matches.

The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, also provides for the regional sports network home of the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets to present magazine shows CityLife and Inside City. YES’s first Manchester City telecast – a replay of its English Premier League opening win over New Castle United -- aired on Aug. 22.

In addition to running within the RSN’s home footprint throughout New York State and Connecticut, northern and central New Jersey and northeast Pennsylvania, the Manchester City fare will air on YES National, the network’s national feed that is available throughout the country on satellite, telephone companies’ video services, and cable.

In May, Major League Soccer announced that it had awarded its 20th franchise and second in the New York metro area, to the New York City Football Club, which is majority-owned by Manchester City Football Club and the Yankees, which own a stake in YES.

NYCFC will kick off its rookie season in 2015, and most expect that YES will air the club’s matches when they don’t conflict with Bronx Bombers’ telecasts.

YES had been encoring matches of Arsenal, another Premier League stalwart, since 2010.
