WEtv Sets 'Basketball Moms' Series

WEtv will follow the mothers of youth basketball players as part of a new unscripted series, the network said Tuesday.

The series, Basketball Moms (working title), will focus on five Houston-area mothers whose sons play on rival youth basketball teams and dream of making it to the NBA, said network officials.

“Any show focused on parents, kids and a shared activity has the right ingredients for high drama. Add in the potential of an NBA career and the transformational impact of that on both player and family and you take things to a whole other level,” said Marc Juris, We tv president. “We’re excited about this show because we know we’ve found the right parents and players to fully represent this journey in a way that will totally entertain and captivate WEtv viewers.”

Basketball Moms is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions, with Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Frank Sinton and Christmas Rini set to serve as executive producers.
