WE tv Bolsters Original Programming Team

WE tv said it has appointed Lauren Lazin to its original programming team as executive producer and promoted programming executive Kate Farrell (pictured) to vice president of original programming. Both report to Lauren Gellery, executive vice president of developmetn and original programming at the AMC Networks outlet. 

Lazin, a filmmaker with more than two decades as an executive producer of unscripted shows, earlier in her career was senior vice president of MTV News and Documentaries, where she oversaw MTV CribsTrue Life and My Super Sweet 16, WE tv said.  She was nominated for an Academy Award for directing Tupac: Resurrection and has spent the past several years working on projects at a variety of networks including Showtime, Bravo, The Style Network, A&E and Nickelodeon, including co-creating, directing and executive producing Newlyweds: The First Year for Bravo. She directed the GLAAD Award winning documentary feature for Showtime called L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin.

At WE tv, Farrell has executive produced the network’s series Mary Mary and Cutting It: in the ATL. She is also an executive producer on Kendra on Top and the forthcoming Driven To Love and Sisters In Law. She also supervised and executive produced the launch of David Tutera: CELEBrations, which is in its third season on WE tv. Earlier in her career, she was a freelance producer focused on live sports and has produced Olympics coverage for both CBS and NBC. She won four Emmy Awards for work as a producer and assistant director on NBC’s Olympic production team in 1996, 2000 and 2002.
