Underlining its commitment to original fare, Veria Living will air more than 300 hours of new shows by the end of first quarter 2013.
Overseen by newly promoted senior vice president, head of programming Elizabeth Browde, the move by the healthy lifestyle and wellness proponent will result in doubling of the daytime production at its New York studios, which launched this spring.
Veria Living officials said the company has committed to producing 200-plus hours of original programming by the end of September, an output that includes 26 half-hour episodes of Myth Defying with Dr. Holly; 39 half-hours of What Would Julieanna Do?; 39 30-minute installments of Peggy K’s Kitchen Cures; and 65 hours of Yoga Sutra Now with Jai Sugrim. These shows are scheduled to run across a number of dayparts later in 2012.
The network has ordered a second season of Yogi Cameron: A Model Guru, encompassing 13 hours, and greenlit a pair of series.
Fat Family Rescue looks to help clans plagued by obesity and inactivity transform their lives both physically and emotionally. Veria Living has commissioned 12 hours, plus the pilot, from by Nancy Glass Productions (A&E’s Fix This Yard, We TV’s Staten Island Cakes and DIY’s Money Hunters).
Over 12 hours and the pilot, Ambush Make Under (working title) aspires to strip away the excesses to reveal the simple natural beauty in every woman. The series is produced by Banyan Productions (Fox’s Ambush Makeover, Discovery’s Home Matters and TLC’s Trading Spaces).
“While remaining focused on our key network goals, it’s paramount that we continue to develop and air dynamic programming which will attract loyal viewers and advertisers looking to engage this under-served audience," said Veria Living general manager Paul Cestari. "These new production initiatives will significantly impact Veria Living on both of these fronts.”
