Two Comedy Series Take Syndication Road
By Linda Moss
Comedy Central's Reno911! and Chappelle's Show are headed for syndication, with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios peddling the series to local TV stations.
MGM will handle all of the station and national ad sales for the series, which will be available to local stations next fall.
The syndication deal is the first under a new strategic relationship with New Line Television, the producer of the shows.
Reno911! was recently picked up for a fifth season on the basic-cable network. The show also spawned a theatrical feature, to be released in February.
Chappelle's Show launched in 2003 and ran for two seasons, grabbing top ratings in the 18-34 male demographic until its star went AWOL before the third season was supposed to start.
