TLC Buys Mall Of America Security Series
Pleased with the performance of an earlier special, TLC has ordered a new reality series, Mall Cops: Mall of America.
Production has begun on the show, telling the stories of the man and men who work the security detail at the largest mall in the U.S.
TLC has ordered a dozen half-hour installments from September Films, with Peter Davey and Sheldon Lazarus serving as executive producers. TLC has yet to announce a premiere date.
The pick-up follows the debut of a one-hour special of the same name earlier this fall, which averaged a 1.0 household rating and 1.2 million viewers, according to TLC officials.
Cameras will take viewers behind the scenes as the mall's cops handle the tasks both routine and extraordinary as they work in an iconic retail setting stretching some 4.2 million square feet, housing more than 500 stores, a seven-acre indoor theme park, a 1.2 million gallon aquarium, a secondary school and wedding chapel. Mall of America counts some 40 million visitors annually. .
