TiVo Frames Web Content, Apps

TiVo subscribers with broadband-connected DVRs can now access more than 1,000 Internet content providers and applications -- including Facebook, Twitter and Flickr -- through the new FrameChannel service launched Tuesday.

TiVo announced plans to offer FrameChannel in March, when the company launched the Premiere DVR.  The FrameChannel feature is available immediately on broadband-connected TiVo Series2 and Series3, TiVo HD and Premiere DVRs.

The FrameChannel service is operated by Thinking Screen Media, formerly called Frame Media, based in Wellesley, Mass. The venture-backed startup, founded in 2007, also delivers content to digital picture frames including those from Samsung, Digital Spectrum, Kodak, as well as other Internet-connected devices.

Through FrameChannel, TiVo users can personalize the delivery of local news, weather and sports, as well as get updates from social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Digg and Flickr. Users also can create their own information feeds using RSS links by registering their TiVos at http://tivo.framechannel.com.
