thePlatform, which provides some of the back-office software for Comcast Corp.’s “The Fan” online portal (www.comcast.net/providers/fan/popup2.html), signed deals with Maven Networks and Australian telecommunications company Telstra Corp. Ltd.
Telstra will use thePlaform’s media-publishing system to power its “BigPond Internet” media portal (www.bigpond.com), which provides movies for download by Telstra’s high-speed-data subscribers. Telstra will use thePlatform’s “MPS” media-download manager to manage and play back content from BigPond.
Maven will also use thePlatform’s media-publishing system for its Internet-video service.
