Telemundo Added to Nielsen NTI
Telemundo Communications Group Inc. and Nielsen Media Research entered into an agreement Wednesday to include Spanish-language broadcast network Telemundo into the measurement company’s National Television Index.
Previously, Telemundo only subscribed to Nielsen’s National Hispanic Television Index, which measures only Hispanic audiences.
Telemundo’s move follows a similar gambit announced Monday by Hispanic TV market-leader Univision Communications Inc. to use the NTI, which measures the mainstream U.S. networks.
Both Telemundo and Univision will maintain their current subscriptions to NHTI until September 2007, when the “National People Meter” sample -- upon which NTI is based -- will become the sole sample for both English- and Spanish-language media.
