TCM to Honor Arkin at Upcoming Film Festival in Hollywood

Turner Classic Movies plans to honor Alan Arkin as a special guest during this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival, the fifth year of the event, scheduled from April 10-13 in Hollywood.

On Arkin’s agenda is a sit-down with TCM host Robert Osborne during which they will discuss Arkin’s prolific career. The interview will take place in front of a live audience at The Ricardo Montalbán Theatre on Sunday, April 13. Following the interview, Arkin will introduce a screening of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, the 1968 film that earned him an Academy Awards best actor nomination.

The event, called Alan Arkin: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival, will air on TCM in spring 2015.

“Whatever kind of role he plays - whether as a confused Russian in a cold-war comedy or stalking Audrey Hepburn in a thriller, Alan Arkin is always a joy to watch. His career has spanned more than four decades, and he is one of the most interesting and creative actors working today,” Osborne said.

The TCM Classic Film Festival has featured an extended interview with an actor or actress since its inception in 2010, during which Luise Rainer was the special guest. Osborne’s interview with Eva Marie Saint, which took place during the 2013 festival, will premiere on TCM on Monday, March 31 at 8 p.m. (ET).
