TCA: 'Louie' Lives For a Fifth Season on FX

FX was in renewal mode at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

In addition to announcing a second season pick-up for anthology series, Fargo, which received 18 nominations, FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf called for a fifth season of Louie, which drew a quintet of Primetime Emmy Awards nods of its own. Those nominations included best comedy actor for star and creator Louis C.K., as well  as best comedy series.

The new season will be either seven or eight episodes,  and will run next spring. The most recent season was 14 episodes and ended June 16.

“Louie’s fourth season was once again groundbreaking. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking—always thought provoking,” said Landgraf. “The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis comes up with next.”
