Strong Weekend Box Office For HBO

Home Box Office had a good weekend.
The premium network enjoyed strong viewership on Saturday and Sunday nights with its Will Ferrell comedy special and a pair of its original series.
Filmed live from the Cort Theatre in New York City, Will Ferrell: You're Welcome America - A Final Night with George W. Bush averaged 2.3 milion watchers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Ferrell's largely one-man send-up of the 43rd U.S. president was HBO's top comedy special Chris Rock: Never Scared in 2004.
The penultimate episode of polygamy seriesBig Love's third season was its second biggest of this campaign, notching 2.3 million viewers. HBO official said the show has averaged 6 million watchers this season, after factoring in encores, DVR viewing and HBO on Demand.
Meanwhile, comedy series Eastbound & Down, which tracks a former Major League Baseball pitcher trying to make the transition to a high school gym teacher in his old small town, stomping grounds, enjoyed of its largest audience of its rookie year. The episode pulled in 949,000 viewers, up 41% from its premiere.
