Stingray Expands Deal With Comcast
Canadian-based Stingray Digital Group will continue to beat the drum for its music-themed on demand content on Comcast, announcing an expansion of its current deal with the MVPD that includes its Karaoke Channel.
The deal includes the rollout of Stingray music services such as Stingray Ambiance, Stingray Brava and Stingray DJazz – as well as thousands of music videos -- to Comcast’s Xfinity customers, according to Stingray co-founder and CEO Eric Boyko. The new offerings will join Stingray’s Karaoke Channel on the Xfinity On Demand platform.
Mathieu Peloquin, senior vice president of marketing and communications for Stingray told Multichannel News that the services are popular with Xfinity viewers but did not reveal specific viewership figures. He added that offering music content on television still has appeal with viewers.
“Your TV is still the number one media center in the house, and there’s nothing like watching an amazing new video from Adele on a large HD screen without any commercials,” he said. “The ability to curate playlists or access already created playlists on your large screen in your living room is an much better experience compared to digital.”
