Veteran TV executive Ted Gold will head up Spike TV’s original scripted series development as senior vice president of scripted original series for the network, Spike said Tuesday.
As part of the newly created position, Gold will oversee all scripted programming for Spike from development through production, said Spike officials. Known for mostly reality-themed shows, the network will launch its first scripted series, Tut, in 2015.
Gold previously served as president of television and executive producer at Parkes +Macdonald/Universal Television, under an overall deal with NBCUniversal, where he developed projects for HBO, Showtime, Amazon, ABC, USA, and NBC.
Gold will report to Sharon Levy, executive vice president of original series.
“Ted’s eye for great material, strong relationships and competitive tenacity, makes him perfectly suited to lead our new scripted development team,” said Levy. “Ted will play an integral role on my team as we continue to create programming for our ever-broadening audience.”
