Southwestern Cable Official Considering Run For Congress
The executive director of the Arizona-New Mexico Cable Communications Association is considering trading Phoenix for Washington D.C.
Susan Bitter Smith announced Feb. 28 that she has formed an exploratory campaign committee to consider whether to challenge U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell for his fifth district congressional seat. That district serves parts of Scottsdale, West Mesa, Ahwatukee and Tempe.
Bitter Smith has been active in politics outside her job representing the cable industry, having served as a Scottsdale city councilwoman. She's also run in the past for Congress.
"We don’t need any more rehashed talking points from Washington DC – we need action points. The challenges facing the Fifth District require action, and leadership," she said, announcing her intentions.
