Siemens Networks announced Monday that Cable Television Laboratories qualified the vendor's PCS-5000 policy server, which can automatically allocate bandwidth levels based on preset rules, as compliant with CableLabs' PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) specification.
The PacketCable specification defines mechanisms for real-time communications, including Internet-protocol telephony, multimedia conferencing, interactive gaming and streaming video.
The Siemens PCS-5000 successfully passed a series of interoperability tests, functioning as a PCMM-compliant policy server in CableLabs’ test labs.
