Showtime Sets Dean Smith Documentary

Legendary North Carolina college basketball coach Dean Smith will be the subject of a new documentary set to premiere March 25.

The documentary, Dean Smith, will chronicle the life of the Tar Heels coach, who retired in 1997 with  the most wins in college basketball history. Smith’s former players, assistants and rival coaches comment on Smith’s legacy during the documentary, which was produced by Showtime Sports and Ross Greenburg Productions.

“Dean Smith paints the picture of a man who was not just an accomplished basketball coach, but also a passionate activist with a life-long commitment to social justice," said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President & General Manager, for Showtime Sports in statement. "He taught and led both his student-athletes and the community at large with a consistent example of excellence and integrity."
