Expanding his role, David Nevins has been elevated to the newly created position of president of Showtime Networks Inc., signing a new contract with the premium programmer through 2018.
Nevins, who joined Showtime in 2010 as president of Entertainment, succeeding Bob Greenblatt, is adding oversight of Showtime Sports, as well the company’s marketing, creative and digital divisions.
In continuing to lead Entertainment, Nevins remains responsible for developing, acquiring and supervising all aspects of programming for Showtime Networks, across all genres including comedy, drama, reality, specials, documentaries and films, along with managing its scheduling, research, acquisitions, home entertainment, business affairs and corporate communications teams. He will also remain as the liaison to CBS Corp.'s international and domestic distribution groups.
Under Nevins’ watch, Showtime has launched eight consecutive series hits, led by terrorist drama Homeland, which was the first project he greenlit and resulted in widespread acclaim and industry laurels, including the network’s first ever Golden Globe Award for best television series – drama, and its first Emmy for outstanding drama series.
Nevins was also responsible for the bows of Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex, Shameless and House of Lies, each of which ranks among the network’s highest-rated series.
Since his arrival four years ago, Showtime has added 5 million subscribers, garnered 99 Emmy nominations and 22 wins, and 29 Golden Globe nods and nine of those statues.
Additionally, Nevins has re-established Showtime as a home for documentary filmmakers, and has launched such films as The World According to Dick Cheney, Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic and the multiple installment docu-series Time of Death and Years of Living Dangerously.

Prior to joining Showtime, Nevins was president of Imagine Television from July 2002 until June 2010, where he also served as executive producer for all of the company’s television shows, including the Emmy Award-winning series Arrested Development, the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning series 24, the Emmy Award-nominated Friday Night Lights, and Parenthood. Previously, he served as executive vice president, programming at Fox Broadcasting Co.
