Services Set For Carolyn Chambers Aug. 20 in Eugene, Ore.

A memorial service will be held for Carolyn Chambers on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. in Eugene, Ore.

The founder and chairwoman of Chambers Communications Corp., a broadcaster and cable operator, died Monday at age 79 of cancer.

The service will be held at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. Chambers was an arts patron in the community, and donations she made led to the construction of the Hult Center.

On Tuesday, American Cable Association CEO Matthew M. Polka said in a statement: "The American Cable Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our good friend and longtime ACA member Carolyn Chambers. Carolyn was a cable industry pioneer whom we honor for a long life and career filled with great experiences and notable achievements running an independent cable company in Washington and California.

"We will always remember Carolyn not only as a loyal and dedicated ACA member but as a courageous and decisive leader who believed the health of the industry was just as important as her own success.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to Carolyn's family. Please know that Carolyn is in our thoughts at this difficult time for you."
