Series Spouts Big Gains Among 'Whale Watchers'
The second-season premiere of Whale Wars got off to a big start for Animal Planet.
The June 5 telecast, showcasing Captain Paul Watson and his crew from the Sea Shepherd Conversation Society, averaged 1.2 million viewers, 22% more than the audience for the series opener.
Compared to the Whale Wars series premiere last year, the sophomore campaign opener rang up a 17% increase in households, a 41% advance among persons 25 to 54, a 73% jump among men 25 to 54 and 45% amelioratioin among persons adults 18 to 49.
The Friday night telecast also rang up a host of gains over Whale Wars first-season averages: 23% to 846,000 households; 21% to 638,000 persons 25 to 54; 29% to 399,000 men 25 to 54; and 25% to 625,000 persons 18 to 49.
