SEC Bars Adelphia Auditor
By MCN Staff
published Gregory Dearlove, the Deloitte & Touche engagement partner who oversaw the 2000 audit of Adelphia Communications, was barred from practicing before the Securities and Exchange Commission, AP reported.
Administrative Law Judge James Kelly found that Dearlove violated generally accepted audit standards and bowed to pressure from Adelphia, which did not want to disclose the full amount of money it co-borrowed with businesses owned by the founding Rigas family, according to AP.
Dearlove may seek a review of the decision, which will not be final until it is approved by the five-member commission, AP reported.
