Science Unit Discovers Chad Cohen At National Geographic

Discovery Studios has added Emmy Award-winner producer, writer and director Chad Cohen to its roster.

In his position as executive producer, Cohen becomes the first member of a dedicated internal science unit designed to bolster Discovery Studios' science capabilities for partnerships with network clients, including Science Channel and Discovery Channel.

Cohen comes to Discovery Studios from National Geographic, where he spent eight years and spearheaded multiple major productions including The Dinosaur Mummy, Incredible Human Machine and Earth Report: State of the Planet.

During his stint there he also served as correspondent, writer and producer for the newsmagazine Nova science Now on PBS. In 2008, Cohen won an Emmy Award for outstanding individual achievement in craft writing for the special, Incredible Human Machine.

"Science is a core genre for Discovery Communications and this new Science Unit is a key step toward Discovery Studios expanding its presence within the scientific community," said Discovery Studios president Carole Tomko in a statement. "Chad's novel thinking, topical expertise and proven track record of programming success make him the ideal first member of this new team."
