Sci Fi Stocks ‘Warehouse 13’
Sci Fi Channel is warehousing another original series.
The NBC Universal network has greenlit production on drama Warehouse 13, ordering 11 hours, including the previously produced two-hour pilot, from Universal Cable Productions.
Production is slated to begin in Toronto in February, in preparation for a premiere next July.
Starring Eddie McClintock (Bones, My Boys, Desperate Housewives),Joanne Kelly (Vanished, Jeremiah, Slings and Arrows) and Saul Rubinek (Frasier, Blind Justice, A Nero Wolfe Mystery), the show centers on two Secret Service agents, who after saving the president’s life, are abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13, a top-secret storage facility in South Dakota housing every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The warehouse’s caretaker Artie (Rubinek) charges Pete (McClintock) and Myka (Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the facility, as well as helping him to control it.
“Warehouse 13 is an exciting, imaginative, fun, adventure show with an amazing team that will continue to broaden our audience,” said Mark Stern, executive vice president, original programming for Sci Fi and co-head original content, Universal Cable Productions, in a statement. “It is a perfect companion series to Eureka, which is a proven success and currently Sci Fi’s most-watched original series.”
