Sam Champion Leads Weather Channel Coverage of Winter Storm Janus
With winter storm Janus leaving a wide band of snow across the Mid-Atlantic states and Northeast, Sam Champion will make his debut on The Weather Channel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Champion, the former Good Morning America meteorologist, is expected to bow his new morning show on The Weather Channel in March.
Champion will cover the storm from the network’s Atlanta studios with assistance in the field from Jim Cantore and Kait Parker in Washington D.C., Stephanie Abrams in New York City, Janel Klein in Oyster Bay, Long Island and Mike Seidel in Plymouth, Mass.
Weather, which is involved in a carriage dispute with DirecTV, will air a special edition of Wake Up With Al on Wednesday, Jan. 22, beginning at 5 a.m. (ET). Host Al Roker will report from Boston, while Abrams continues her coverage from the Big Apple.
