ReelzChannel Appoints GM

ReelzChannel named Terry O’Reilly to the newly created position of executive vice president and general manager, officials said Wednesday

O’Reilly will be responsible for leading the network’s programming, marketing and on-air promotion efforts. He will report to Gary Thorne, the network’s president and COO.

O’Reilly joins ReelzChannel after nearly 10 years with Hubbard Broadcasting, most recently as president of Hubbard Holdings. He joined the Minneapolis/St. Paul-based media group in 1998 as president of CONUS, a Hubbard media venture with interests in television news and program production, broadcast satellite technology and television advertising sales.

Prior to joining Hubbard, O’Reilly served as senior vice president of programming and production for The Weather Channel.

Rod Perth, ReelzChannel’s co-founder and president, resigned last August.

ReelzChannel presents a slate of primarily original programming, with the majority of that content produced in-house in its own studio in downtown Los Angeles.  Its post-production is also handled almost entirely on-site.

ReelzChannel launched in September 2006 to a national audience of 28 million households, then the largest premiere in cable/satellite history. In addition to numerous subsequent launches on cable systems across the country, the network recently launched on Comcast in Chicago and has an extensive list of local cable launches scheduled in the first half of 2008.
