Re-Branded American Heroes Channel Sets March 3 Debut

Discovery Communications today (March 3) will flip the switch on its newly re-branded American Heroes Channel with the debut of original documentary series Against The Odds.

Formerly the Military Channel, American Heroes Channel will expand its focus on military-themed subjects to encompass profiles of the people and pivotal historic moments that have shaped today’s world, according to network officials. American Heroes Channel’s first year will include 17 new series and specials, beginning with Against The Odds, a six-part series that chronicles the stories of veterans from past wars.

The Military Channel averaged 211,000 primetime viewers in February, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2013, according to Nielsen.

“American Heroes Channel is not a rebrand but a broadening of a network that has a very clear core audience in place with respect to Military,” Henry Schleiff, group president of American Heroes Channel, Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Discovery Fit & Health recently told Multichannel News.
