‘WWE Raw’ Sets Off Twitter Fireworks

USA’s WWE Monday Night Raw drew the biggest Twitter audience on any television show airing on Independence Day according to Nielsen.

The three-hour live wrestling show garnered 160,000 Tweets to top Nielsen’s Twitter TV ratings charts for July 4th, easily besting VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and a trio of Independence Day specials – NBC’s Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, PBS’ A Capitol Fourth and CBS’ Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, said Nielsen officials.

ESPN’s live coverage of the Wimbledon Championship tennis tournament coverage served up 37,000 Tweets to best baseball games from MLB Network and ESPN among the top five most tweeted sports events of the day, according to Nielsen.
