Q Programming Available via Syndication

Q Television Network said Monday that it will make select programming available for syndication.

The gay- and lesbian-themed network hopes the move will raise awareness of it and help to expand its carriage.

A Seattle-area digital station carried by Comcast Corp. will air On Q Live starting in January. On Q Live is a two-and-a-half-hour interactive primetime news and entertainment talk show with three hosts and seven correspondents throughout the country.

Q said other shows available for syndication are Q on the Move, a weekly, one-hour show spotlighting gay life, culture and businesses in different cities; Women on Women, a women's talk show covering subjects of interest to all women, straight, bisexual and lesbian; and In Foqus, a biweekly biography series featuring celebrities, gay icons and gay topics.

"Syndication will also create a new profit center for Q Television," CEO Frank Olsen said in a prepared statement. "We hope if they get a taste of the candy, they will want the whole candy bar. Some people are afraid of gay television because they don't know what it is. This is our way of giving potential 24/7 subscribers a sample."
