Comedic actress Melissa Peterman (Reba) was picked to host the first four episodes of CMTComedy Stage, a half-hour stand-up series premiering in February.
The series -- which will be taped live at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, Tenn. -- features rising stars and favorites including Etta May, Jon Reep, Vic Henley and Killer Beaz.
“CMT has been looking to dive into the stand-up world for quite some time,” executive producer John C. Feld said in a prepared statement. “Our audience loves comedy, as evidenced by the success of our series Foxworthy’s Big Night Out and CMTComedy Club. And now, with Melissa and our great roster of comics onboard, CMTComedy Stage promises to be the next exciting piece of our comedy franchise.”
The new show will be produced by Tom Forrest and Ben Tyson of Taillight TV.
