Tollgrade Communications Inc.’s “Cheetah CMD Series” Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification-based transponders were awarded PacketCable Release 1.0 "Verified for Interoperability" status by Cable Television Laboratories Inc. in its recently completed certification wave 42.
The Cheetah transponders can now emulate a subscriber's embedded multimedia-terminal adapter, enabling cable operators to "actively sample" voice-over-Internet-protocol service performance by verifying both signaling and call quality from a hybrid-fiber-coaxial-based test point, the vendor said.
