Paramount Network, Jay Z Set Trayvon Martin Docuseries

Paramount Network has teamed with Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter to create a documentary series based on the life and tragic death of Trayvon Martin.

The six-part Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story series -- set to premiere in July and based based on the book Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin -- will serve as the definitive look at one of the most talked-about and controversial events of the last decade, one that spurred the impactful worldwide “Black Lives Matter” movement.

In 2012 Martin was an unarmed 17-year old high school student shot and killed by a neighborhood watch member, George Zimmerman, in the Florida community where they both lived.

Executive producers for the series include Carter, Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin, Chachi Senior, Michael Gasparro, Jenner Furst, Julia Willoughby Nason and Nick Sandow.

The series marks the second recent collaboration between Carter and Paramount Network after the 2017 docuseries Time:The Kalief Browder Story.
