Papa Part Of NFL Network’s Game Plan

NFL Network has named Bob Papa as its new play-by-play man for its Thursday Night Football telecasts.

Papa, who has been the radio voice of the New York Giants since 1995, will make his debut on the pro football league’s in-house network on Nov 6 at 8 p.m. (ET), calling the action with analyst Cris Collinsworth, when the Cleveland Browns host the Denver Broncos.

Papa succeeds Bryant Gumbel, who resigned as the network's play-by-play man in April, behind the microphone.

In addition to calling NFL Network’s third season of primetime game action, Papa will also contribute pre- and post-game reports for the service from New York Giants games, which he will continue to call on radio.  He will also write columns for NFL.com and contribute with chats and reports.

“Bob is one of the most talented and experienced announcers in the business. We are proud he is joining us as the voice for our Thursday Night Football games,” said NFL president and CEO Steve Bornstein in a statement. “Bob and Cris will be an informative and entertaining team to watch on NFL Network’s primetime games this fall.”
