The Night Philadelphia Went Dark

The lights on several skyscrapers in Philadelphia were off Thursday night in protest of proposed tax breaks for a new 60-story Comcast Corp. office tower, AP reported.

Philadelphia buildings including the Liberty Place towers and the pyramid-topped Mellon Center were dark except for safety marker lights.

The building owners are opposed to the Keystone Opportunity Improvement Zone tax gives the MSO an unfair competitive advantage, according to AP.

Comcast has said the new building would add 1,100-2,000 jobs in the center city area.
