Alongside the U.S. population, the Nielsen universe continues to grow.
For the upcoming 2010-11 TV season, the measurement company estimates there will be 115.9 million households, translating into nearly 295 million people.
That's up from 1 million homes from 114.9 million during the 2009-10 campaign, when Nielsen estimated the universe at 292 million persons 2+.
A decade ago, the company's universe estimate totaled 105.5 million homes for the 2001-02 season.
