Nickelodeon Sets Worldwide Day Of Play Date

Nickelodeon will launch its 10th annual Worldwide Day Of Play health and wellness initiative on Sept. 21 in Brooklyn, the network announced Tuesday.

The initiative, which encourages kids to turn off all electronics and participate in physical activities, will feature more than 30 national and local partner organizations including the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the United Tennis Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and YMCA of Greater NY, said network officials.

Beginning Sept. 16, Nickelodeon – along with NYC & Company – will host health and wellness-themed public events across New York City in such iconic locations as Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and Union Square. Full details and locations of all events can be found at www.nick.com/play.

“We are incredibly excited to commemorate our milestone, 10th anniversary Worldwide Day of Play celebration in New York City, one of the greatest cities in the world and home to our corporate offices,” said Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Administration, Nickelodeon Group in a statement. “Over the past 10 years, Nickelodeon has been at the forefront of addressing health and wellness issues with our audience. With our Worldwide Day of Play signature event, kids around the globe will connect to activities and organizations that will aid them in adopting healthy and active lifestyles.”
