Los Angeles -- Underlining its commitment to promoting more activity by children, Nickelodeon will close its signal from noon-3 p.m. Oct. 2 as part of a worldwide celebration of healthier lifestyles, called “Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play,” according to president Cyma Zarghami.
Elsewhere, the network will launch three new live-action series this fall as part of its afternoon and primetime Teen Nick block:
- Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, which offers middle school tips
- Unfabulous, about the daily changes in a young girl’s social life starring Julia Roberts’ niece, Emma Roberts; and
- Zoey 101, starring Britney Spears’s sister Jamie Lynn as one of the first girls entering an all-boys boarding school.
